So...you want to Volunteer?
Volunteering....Exploring your options in
helping others while enriching your future!

Gain Experience!
Volunteering is not only good for the organization you are helping, but for you as well! Want to learn computer programs? Meet people who work in the field? Explore something new? Volunteer experience can provide you with important skills and contacts that may serve you well in your future.

If you are a military spouse who is used to being here today and PCSing tomorrow, volunteering may be the only way to work in your career field and the best way to obtain work experience and keep your job skills up-to-date.

How do I begin?
First, explore your past & present hobbies, interests and professional skills. Then decide how much time you want to devote in helping others. A few hours a day to a few hours a month - what suits your needs? Next, decide the type of organization or agency you would enjoy working with - one with lots of people and a high-paced activity level, or perhaps a quieter setting with more one-on-one interaction.

Who needs you?
Check out a few of the many agencies in need of assistance:
Family Services (623) 856-6550 or 3199
Legal Office (623) 856-6901
American Red Cross (623) 856-6994
Airman and Family Readiness Center (623) 856-6550
Fitness Center (623) 856-6241
Youth Center (623) 856-7470

Free Childcare!

Being a parent AND a volunteer is no problem as a member of Team Luke! Our Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) Child Care for Volunteers Program provides free child care for Active Duty USAF family volunteers registered in the Volunteer Resource Program at the Luke Airman and Family Readiness Center.
Registered volunteers are authorized 10 hours of childcare per week per child. Care must be provided by a licensed Family Child Care (FCC) provider participating in the AFAS Child Care for Volunteers Program. Volunteer hours worked must be at on-base agencies (program does not cover volunteers participating in resale, fundraising, training or social activities). A current listing of FCC childcare providers is maintained at the Airman and Family Readiness Center.

Rewards!
Volunteers give Team Luke a gift of over $1.5 million every year! This amount represents the dollar equivalent of the hours that volunteers contribute to our community. As a small token of appreciation, our Volunteer Recognition Program recognizes volunteers annually. Every volunteer who works at least 12 hours in a month will receive a Parking Pass that authorizes them to park in specially designated reserved Volunteer Parking Spaces at the Base Exchange, Commissary, and the Medical Treatment Facility. In addition, books containing coupons for various specials are issued to volunteers who volunteer 12 - 23 hours, 24 - 39 hours, and 40+ hours a month. Those individuals who volunteer 40+ hours are entered into our quarterly drawing for BX coupon books, movie passes, a $50 savings bond, and a free overnight stay at a cabin at Fort Tuthill. On an annual basis, volunteers are honored at the Volunteer Recognition Ceremony where five annual awards are presented. The most exceptional volunteer in the following categories are recognized: Active Duty, Military Retired, Non-Military, and Youth. The USAF Chief of Staff Volunteer Excellence Award is selected from all non-active duty nominees. Volunteers don’t donate their time for recognition - but this is our small way of showing appreciation for the work they do. Volunteering does have its rewards!
