OPERATION KIDS
Kids of reserve, civilians, foreign nationals, navy,
army, retired or those associated with Luke find out
what a military member goes through when they
leave home for that AEF, OEF, or other
TDY/deployment tasking. 

At Operation KIDS Recruits Will

  • be recalled for duty @0640-0705
  • go through the processing line (at Team Luke)
  • receive a mission brief from the 56 FW/CC
  • learn about per diem
  • deploy to far away land (ATSO) area (Base is called “Camp Thunderbolt”)
  • find out what’s inside that mobility bag
  • visit a simulated deployment site
  • snack on MREs!
  • check out what agencies do (Fire Dept, SFS, OSI, Chaplain, AAFES, CE Readiness and many more)
  • Face painting, air gun range, night vision goggles, etc
  • Eat lunch (hot dogs, chips & everyone’s favorite MRE’s)
  • Lots of hands on, interacting w/ their parents, and all agencies
  • Redeploy back to “Team Luke”
  • Receive a nice welcome home by volunteers and VFW
  • 56 FW/CC give welcome home brief, certificate and coin for completing the mission

Each child receives

  • a personalized photo ID badge
  • T-shirt
  • Military dog tags
  • a bag of other giveaways (donated goodies, snacks, etc)
