Two seminars have been developed to help Luke personnel understand and
navigate the processes of home buying and selling. Home Buying workshops are offered at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. With all of the publicity about foreclosures, falling housing prices, predatory lending practices, and uncertainty in the housing market, this can be an especially confusing time for people who are considering home ownership. The workshop is designed to help prospective buyers understand and navigate the complicated home purchase process. It will also help assess the individual risk strategies of home purchasing, and provide extensive information on the home buying process. Topics include: determining current market value of individual properties, negotiating with realtors, and selecting a home with great resale appeal. The last section of the workshop focuses on the process of selecting a lender, choosing the best mortgage product, and understanding and negotiating closing costs. The workshop will address current market trends, placing fair market value on a property, increasing the attractiveness of a home to buyers, alternatives when a home doesn't sell, tips on negotiating sales, and how to negotiate with realtors.
